The Pearl of the Adriatic
Rooted in the NEW..OLD Europe is the capital of Croatia. Zagreb us a city dotted with gardens and an open-air feeling. The city was planned around eight parks dubbed the Lenucci horseshoe because it is the name of the urban planner responsible for the design.
You will see grand houses in the Lower Town built in the 19th century in neoclassical style, Neo-Gothic, and Neo-Renaissance.
Sagreb's commitment to keeping it green is based on a long history of being sure green space, fountains and long avenues of trees and flowers ribbon throughout the city from the town center to the railways stations...through the botanical gardens and up to Marulic and Tito Squares where the theater dominates another square. Outside the city there are parks such as Plitvice with trails, waterfalls and bird life.
